Our Weekend Vacation

We decided at the beginning of last week that we were going to Mississippi and the Alabama coast, but at the last minute decided not to because of Hurricane Rita (I'm glad we didn't because there was very stormy weather in that area). So, instead of the coast we opted to go to Chattanooga instead. We left on Friday morning and and came back on Saturday night. It was a nice little getaway. We went to Chattanooga's Creative Discovery Museum on Friday afternoon and then went back to the hotel that had an indoor pool and relaxed and let the kids swim. We then went to Rock City and Ruby Falls and Point Park on Saturday. Before we left for home we went to Cloudland Canyon State Park (in Northern Georgia). We had a great time - I really recommend the Creative Discovery Museum - it's a really great hands-on museum for kids. Cloudland Canyon was beautiful - but there are a lot of trails alongside the canyon rim and you need to keep a tight leash on the smaller children.

Good Friends...

Do you have old friends that you have lost touch with over the years and wish now that you hadn't? Just this year I reconnected with a childhood friend and I'm very happy we did. She was my best friend in elementary school. I had thought about her many times over the years and wondered how she was doing. I'm happy to say that she is doing wonderfully. I'm so proud of her (isn't it funny how, even though I really barely know her now, I'm proud?). When we were younger she was like family to me - we were together all the time during school and many weekends. It's funny how some friends come and go - and others are always there - and still others - you meet up with again.....

The Cabin....

Today we went to the cabin that my Uncle Bud and Aunt Judy owns... I haven't been down there in a couple of years and it really looks nice down there now. The lake is beautiful and it's very peaceful down there... well - until the kids start fighting! Here's some pics of our afternoon there.
